Tennis Legend
The Evonne Goolagong Foundation is the realisation of Evonne's dream for life after the pro tour. To give as many Indigenous children the opportunity to be the best they can be.
' DREAM - BELIEVE - LEARN - ACHIEVE! ' has been Evonne's life motto and has now been adopted by her foundation.
The Evonne Goolagong Foundation uses tennis as a vehicle to attract Indigenous girls & boys in order to promote and help provide high quality education and better health through diet and exercise.
The EGF Program
Evonne's programs are designed to identify "kids who display enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to improve themselves given half a chance.” The programs invite Indigenous girls and boys aged 5 – 15 years to have fun and give tennis a real go. Athletic ability is also taken into consideration but is not the determinant factor.
To progress you must STAY IN SCHOOL, EAT 'HEALTHY' AND EXERCISE!
Since 2005, the Evonne Goolagong Foundation has awarded school scholarships, produced tennis coaches, sports administrators, university scholars and has helped with employment placement.
Come & Try Days
Some youngsters from each Indigenous Tennis Come and Try day may be selected to receive assisted coaching. With agreement from their parent / guardian, these boys and girls will be encouraged and expected to attend their school and their tennis sessions, giving them the opportunity to be selected to attend a Goolagong State Development Camp.
Participants at the State Camp level can qualify for the Goolagong National Development Camp held in Melbourne each January during the first week of the Australian Open. Entry to mentored Tennis & School Scholarship programs can follow.
